Review Policy
Effective date: April 21, 2026
This policy explains how reviews work on DisplayReviews.io (“DisplayReviews,” “we,” “us”), the rules reviewers and profile owners agree to when they participate, and the procedures for correcting, disputing, or removing review content. By submitting or soliciting reviews on DisplayReviews, you agree to this policy.
1. Platform role
DisplayReviews.io operates a directory of businesses, institutions, and public-facing individuals (collectively, “Profiles”). Reviews on a Profile are user-generated content posted by third-party reviewers. We do not author, endorse, verify, or independently fact-check the contents of individual reviews. Review content reflects the personal opinions of the reviewer.
2. Section 230 statement
DisplayReviews.io is an interactive computer service provider within the meaning of 47 U.S.C. § 230 (the Communications Decency Act). We are not the publisher or speaker of content provided by third-party reviewers. Liability for the content of a user-generated review rests with the reviewer who submitted it, not with the platform.
3. Moderation rules
We remove or restrict review content that, in our judgment, violates any of the following:
- Defamation. Knowingly false factual statements about an identifiable person or business.
- Impersonation. Reviews submitted under a false identity or purporting to be from someone other than the reviewer.
- Harassment & threats. Content that targets individuals with threats, slurs, doxxing, or sustained abuse.
- Health-related claims. Specific medical outcomes, diagnoses, or treatment statements about identifiable providers, which may implicate HIPAA or state medical-privacy laws.
- Legal advice & bar-restricted content. Content that purports to offer legal advice or that violates state bar rules restricting attorney advertising or testimonials.
- Political misinformation. Verifiably false statements about elected officials, candidates, or election processes.
- Unrelated content.Content unrelated to the reviewer’s direct experience with the Profile subject.
- Illegal content. Content that is itself illegal or that solicits illegal activity.
Reviews of individual people (entity_type = individual) default to a moderation queue and are not published until a Profile owner or platform moderator approves them. Reviews of businesses may also be moderated at the Profile owner’s discretion.
4. DMCA counter-notice procedure
If you believe review content on DisplayReviews infringes a copyright you own, send a notice under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c) to legal@displayreviews.io with:
- A description of the copyrighted work you claim was infringed.
- The URL of the allegedly infringing review.
- Your contact information.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Counter-notices follow the procedure in 17 U.S.C. § 512(g).
5. Defamation dispute process
If you are the subject of a review you believe contains false factual statements, you may submit a dispute:
- Email legal@displayreviews.io with the review URL and a specific explanation of which statements are factually incorrect and why.
- We will review your submission within 10 business days. If we can verify the statement is false, we will remove the review and notify the reviewer. If we cannot verify the claim either way, we may add a “Disputed” flag to the review and leave it published, and will notify the reviewer that the Profile subject has contested the content.
- You may appeal our initial decision once by replying to the same thread with additional evidence.
6. Correction requests
If a review contains a factual error that can be fixed (wrong date, wrong name, typo), email legal@displayreviews.io with the review URL and the specific correction. We may contact the reviewer and, where appropriate, edit or annotate the review.
7. Reviewer rights & appeals
If your review is removed or restricted and you believe the moderation decision was incorrect, email legal@displayreviews.io with the review content and why you believe it should be restored. Appeals are reviewed within 10 business days. Moderation decisions are final.
8. Right-of-removal for individual Profile subjects
If you are the subject of an individual-type Profile that was submitted by a third party (not by you), you may request delisting by emailing legal@displayreviews.io from an email address we can verify (e.g. your institutional email matching the affiliated organization’s domain). We will delist verified requests within 7 business days. Delisting may not extend to information that is independently published by the platform (e.g. public-record data about an elected official).
9. Reviewer commitments
When you submit a review, you agree that:
- Your review is based on your own direct interaction with the Profile subject.
- You are not being compensated by anyone (other than a disclosed review-request program) to post the review.
- You are not the Profile subject, a competitor of the Profile subject, or otherwise affiliated in a way that creates a conflict of interest, unless you disclose it.
- You understand that knowingly false statements about an identifiable person may subject you to personal liability under defamation law, and DisplayReviews may cooperate with legitimate legal process.
10. Profile owner commitments
Profile owners may not: (a) submit or solicit reviews written by themselves, employees, family members, or paid actors posing as customers; (b) retaliate against reviewers through off-platform means; or (c) misrepresent verification or affiliation. Violations may result in loss of moderation privileges, delisting, or account termination.
